So let’s talk wreaths.
I knew I wanted to create a fall wreath for my front door because well, it’s practically the fall season. Cue the hysterical crying because I don’t do well with the changing seasons to colder, darker and rainier weather. But back to the wreath… I didn’t have an exact color scheme in mind because I knew I just wanted to go with whatever I found that was cute, cheap-ish and fun. I perused the aisles of the Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby and came home with some goodies that I hoped would work. ** This post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure policy here. **Here’s what I found for my D.I.Y eclectic fall wreath:
1. Velvet Pumpkins… from the Dollar Tree! SAY WHAT?!

2. Metal Wreath thingy … again from the Dollar Tree

3. Ribbons galore… from the Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby

4. Burlap-ish Deco Mesh Ribbon

Oh, I didn’t?
Yeah, making wreaths really aren’t cheap guys. So just a fair warning.5. White Pumpkin Picks and Gold Pumpkin Picks at 40% off

6. Two Fall Leaves Picks

7. Gold Ball Sprig Picks

Here is how I made D.I.Y Eclectic Fall Wreath
1. Start scrunching the deco mesh through the wreath’s wireframe.
Um, okay, not really sure how to explain this really well, but I just pulled a loop through one of the gaps between the wires, and then pulled another loop through another gap, and kept doing that until I pulled loops through each of the three gaps.

2. Floof
Okay, once you have as much of your wreath done in the deco mesh, it’s time to “floof” it. Fluff+ Poof= Floof! Is that a word? If not, I just made it a word. Floof, Floof!
3. Make your bow.
Back to me being weird, I guess… I don’t like overly perfect wreath bows sometimes. They just remind me of cheerleader’s hair bows or wrapped Christmas gifts. I like things to be more natural and have an organic flow to the design, so I don’t create or make perfect bows for things… usually. Now if you want to make a perfect bow for your fall wreath, this tutorial should help you! I made a 5-loop bow with one of the larger ribbons,

4. Add Foliage
I stuck one of the leaves sprigs in by where the bow and deco mesh met…

5. Add the velvet pumpkin
So this is when you want to add your bigger items, whether it be velvet pumpkins like I did, or larger flowers, foliage, or whatever you choose. Pick to your heart’s content sista and you want it to cover the wireframe so that the wire doesn’t show. I was a little short on wreath making materials, not that I don’t “own” the correct materials, but my materials were actually downstairs in the basement safe room. And I don’t like to go down there without Mr. Hubs because there are spiders. Big ones. So I was forced to get a little creative to secure the velvet pumpkins, and hot glue wasn’t an option because, whoops, I was out of hot glue! And I wasn’t running 20 minutes into town to get some hot glue sticks.? I decided to grab the gold ball sprig (since it had a long wire stem) and pierce it through two of the pumpkins. Problem solved!

6. Fill in the empty spaces
This is where you’ll use your things that are for filler. So technically, TECHNICALLY, if I would have done the empty wreath space full of foliage or moss or something of that nature, to begin with, it would have covered the wireframe, and we wouldn’t really have this issue. But this wreath was already becoming more expensive than what I wanted to spend, so I was just working with what I had. I added the two white pumpkins, one at the top of the pumpkins and one at the bottom, and then the last gold ball sprig to the side of the velvet pumpkins.

The wireframe is officially hidden!
Part of the reason I bought so many different ribbons was that I knew I wanted to create a variety of ribbon “tails” on the deco mesh side.7. Add Ribbon Tails
Take some wire and bend it in half, cut different lengths of ribbons and fold them over the wire. I did about 3-4 different pieces of each of the 3 different ribbons I chose.

8. Final “floof” and you’re done!
This is where you’re going to do a final “floofing” over your deco mesh, your ribbon bow, and whatever else you have. I also decided to curl a few of the wired ribbon tails. And. We. Are. Done!

Now go for it girl; get fancy with it!
