When we started looking for a new home, we established that the land was more important to us then the house. We knew if the house was ugly, we could remodel it. A part of us knew we needed to downgrade in ” home size ” from what we had previously, but a part of me didn’t want too. We prayed for specifics during our house shopping process and let me tell you, God. Has. A. Sense. Of. Humor!
- #1. We wanted to live with no neighbors- We got it! We are surrounded by a forest reserve on two sides of the property. Which means we have no ” human ” neighbors, but we do have wild animals that visit the property. UPDATE: We now have neighbors ( read about it here ).
- #2. We wanted to live in the ” middle of nowhere “- We got it! … and actually a little too far out there, because we don’t even receive mail or trash service out here. HA!
- #3. We wanted land- We got it! 4.75 acres to be exact.
- #4. We wanted mature fruit trees: There are 5 apple trees and 1 plum-tree that need some serious pruning and help, but how exciting?! Click ( Here ) to see our orchard we planted.
I could keep going on. This house has things in it that I’ve always wanted, and things that I have always hated. Every ounce of this house needs a face lift, but we scored a great deal on the house and we couldn’t be happier.
Through the process of buying this house, we felt peace about it and this is where God wants us to be for now!
So let me introduce you to our project home!
I know what you’re thinking. ” That’s not so bad “. Right? Let’s keep going..
And if you’re not grossed out enough from the wood paneling, old carpet and popcorn ceilings; I will leave you with these beauties.
So That is it folks. We have already started remodeling and we definitely have our work cut out for us. Stay tuned for the next post to see what we have done so far.
