New Farm Animals On The Prairie
This will be a short post, but I wanted to keep you in the loop.
In my last post You’re Gonna Be My New What?!, I told you all that we were getting some new farm animals this week and I took a poll to see what you thought we were getting.
This is how you voted:
Meat Chickens- 5 votes
Cows- 4 votes
Goats- 3 votes
Pigs- 2 votes
Meat chickens won the vote, but I am sad to say that we did not get meat chickens at this time. As much as we LOVE cows and want a Jersey cow; right now we are going to wait a few years. Those cute cuddly piggies that are so sweet.. will have to wait too. So what does this mean?!
We have goats!!
Goats weren’t on the original The Inspired Prairie plan, but we figured ( why not? ). It will get us used milking animals before we move onto getting a cow. I also have big plans for all that goat milk we will be getting; soaps and animals pet care stuff.. more on that later!
Meet Charlotte ( white one ) and Fern ( black/brown one ). They were named after the characters in the book Charlotte’s Web, which Roman just read for school.
They are a Nigerian dwarf mixed with something else
They are two girls, and they are BOTH pregnant!! This means that within the next month we will have two goat births on The Inspired Prairie (which I am super stoked about, and I am going to be all up in their business assisting with the births), and tons of cute cuddly baby goats!!
Viktoria kept pointing and saying, ” Goaks- goaks! “.
We picked them up in Mr. Hubs’ work van, haha. ” Come on down lil’ mama, welcome to your new home “!
As soon as they came out of the van, they both popped a squat and peed haha.
Meeting their new farm friends!
Goat- ” Nice to meet you! “
Chicken- ” What kind of strange creature are you??”
So now on The Inspired Prairie, we not only have sounds of chickens clucking and roosters crowing; we have..
” Meeeeeeeeehhhhhhh “
all day! Stay tuned for their fenced in goat run ( here ) reveal!
